§   Plan to stay with your child for awhile, talk with the other parent and observe for safety concerns.

§   Ask who will be there while your child is there (friends/neighbors, older siblings, relatives)

§    Review the family safety rules with your child before he or she visits a friend's home, especially touching safety rules.

§    Make sure the other parent can contact you, explain that your child may want to call you.

§    Ask your child about the visit.  Make time to talk about his or her experience.

Did he or she meet anyone new?  What games were played?  How did the children

get along?  Try to ask open-ended questions that will help guide discussion rather

than yes or no questions.
